Psalm 23 King James Version (KJV)

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

Thee peace of the twenty-third psalm is built on that great promise, “The Lord is my Shepherd.” That is the one critical constant in changes of our lives. The psalmist sees God in control of his life.

God knows our limits. “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.” Sheep do not know their limits. They will stay in the fields all day never resting. The Shepherd makes them lie down. The principle of this passage is that God will never put on us more than we can bear.

God’s nature is to guide. He’s not a reluctant leader. We are often reluctant followers. His leadership is sufficient. Our “followship” is often uncertain and hesitant. Like sheep we wander from the fold, but the nature of the shepherd is to seek the one lost sheep. The remarkable arithmetic of Jesus’ parable is that the Good Shepherd will leave the ninety-nine to share His love with even the one.

About Pastor Efrain Pizarro

With a charitable heart he serves. A third generation Pastor, Efrain Pizarro, experienced first hand the dynamics of pastoral ministry from childhood. The son of a Pastor, he grew up in a family of strong faith.  His Grandfather, Eliud Pizarro founded East Presbyterian Church and the ministry continued from Efrain Pizarro Sr his son, to his grandson Efrain Pizarro. Now, Efrain Pizarro is continuing this legacy of ministry with the compassionate love of Christ to meet the people's needs. Growing up in the culturally rich neighborhood of Spanish Harlem, he and his family have provided a place for worship and fellowship with services and spiritual leadership specifically for the community since 1951. At this time, Pastor Pizarro's is expanding his fellowship with outreach programs to the emerging local community and to answer the global need for Christian leadership and for their charitable demands.

A career firefighter and member of the FDNY, Pastor Pizarro was a first responder to 9/11, the terrorist attack that brought down the WTC towers. He witnessed the loss of over 300 FDNY in a single day and many more victims throughout the years to follow.

As a result of experiencing this event, it evoked a deeper understanding of human loss which is the catalyst for his ministry in providing support for countless 9/11 victims and their families through his counseling and music ministry. In addition to this,  he witnessed the devastation of war with Naval deployments in Afghanistan, that inspired his commitment to international missionary programs.  He has traveled the world with outreach ministries including mission work in Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake that left so many Haitians without homes or resources. His mission work continued throughout Europe and with stateside relief ministries in Louisiana during the recovery stages of hurricane Katrina assisting families with their immediate needs. This scripture based ministry is dedicated to the salvation of man and the advancement of the Holy Father's Kingdom and making the lives of God's disciples and future disciples filled  with divine grace. Let Pastor Pizarro share the Gospel message with you.
