Conversation with the Pastor
Interpreting scripture is known as hermeneutics and it is a important part of studying the Bible. On our website you will find some suggestions of publications that can help you get a better understanding of the Word. You may choose to read the entire Bible starting from the beginning of the Old Testament or you may study various passages until you have gone through all the scriptures. However you study, the important thing is that you are seeking the truth of the Holy and Divine Word.
The Bible is filled with The Word of God and is an inspirational book of truth and wisdom. You can find answers for everything that you encounter in life in the Bible. It is filled with stories that have been written to give you guidance throughout your journey. The word of God addresses all of life’s challenges. “There is nothing new under the sun”. Reading the scripture will give you more understanding of how God wants us to live our lives and fill you with hope. Furthermore, it will manifest in us a greater understanding of our purpose and an increased faith in God’s love for us all.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Question: Should we study scripture regularly and how should we study?
Pastor Pizarro: Yes, you should always learn and you should study the Bible. You should get the cross references that can assist you in explaining what is written, and listen to scripture based teachings and not just opinions.
Question: Don"t you need some sort of interpretation of what you have read from someone sometimes?
PP: Yes but you have to consider the source, because some of the enemies of the church know the Bible the best. You have to be careful of the source of your teachings. The Truth is the truth and the Word is the Word. However the Word and the Truth can be manipulated. (Matthew 7:15-20 Bible on False Prophets)
Consider everything that Lott was blessed with or what Isaiah was blessed with and Job's blessings. Those blessings were for him at that time in that situation. In the broader picture, those scriptures are lessons that are to teach you obedience and faith. Some may wonder if they do the exact same thing as someone who's blessings were written about in the Bible, then in turn they will be blessed in the exact same way. This is not necessarily true. The scripture teaches us differently. Your relationship with God is an intimate individual relationship with its very own personal lessons, circumstances and blessings. Its normal to question the meaning of various passages in the Bible. Our Lord wants us to study the word. There can be a problem when you over think your faith. You know God and even so called nonbelievers know God because they fear him just the same. Learn all that you can about Our Father and the teachings of Jesus but faith is something that is in your heart. Studying is a way of growing your faith.
The basis of what you really need to know is simple. We should be concerned about what is going on in our lives currently and in this world right now. People get caught up in the after life and awards in Heaven but if your neighbor is without food and you don't feel compassion or if there is a tragedy taking place in front of you and you choose to film it so that you can get a million views for posting it instead of calling for help or helping, then how can you feel justified in your relationship with God. (John 15:12) The Bible tells us that we must love one another. Our study gives us a guide of what the Father wants from us. We must believe and worship him and we must love one another.
On Seeking The Word: Revelation 1:3 English Standard Version (ESV)
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
On Finding The Truth: Matthew 7:15-20 English Standard Version (ESV)
A Tree and Its Fruit
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17 So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. 18 A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.
On Loving Your Fellow Man: John 15:12 English Standard Version (ESV)
12 “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
On Finding God: Matthew 7:13-14
13 Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
2 Peter 3:3-9 New International Version (NIV)
3 Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
