A Christmas Prayer

Dear God,

This year on Christmas, we are once again in unquestionable awe of your generous gift in Christ. Christmas honors the birth of your son and Our Lord and Savior, Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ, The Messiah. Imagine, the overwhelming joy that permeated throughout the earth as the Savior entered the world. Radiant joy must have satisfied the heart of his Mother Mary, as she held “the blessed fruit of thy womb”, her son that through a miraculous birth was destined to uplift all of mankind.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born,

to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Above all, is his miraculous life, having faced adversity and controversy from conception. Yet he lived an unwavering life dedicated to his teachings, ensuring that we can have salvation. We celebrate his birth in tradition, as we break bread with friends and family and exchange presents.

We pray this Christmas, for those who have no Christmas. We pray for the less fortunate. We pray for the starving families across the globe, for the victims of the horrific storms in the Mid-West and Southern States. We pray for those that are still facing challenges and loss from the pandemic, for those who are wading in two feet of water in South Sudan, for the people who are in war-torn countries and are still under threats of harm. We pray Father, for those who are struggling or facing adversity in their lives. We pray Father God, that you will touch those families and individuals to ease their burdens for Christmas.

We pray for that mother who is worried about her son but nevertheless sets a plate for him at the Christmas dinner table in hopes that he will humbly ring the doorbell to join his loving family at that table on Christmas. We pray that he comes home to his family but more importantly, that he comes home to you, Father at Christmas to begin his life anew.

Dear God,

We are so very thankful that you allowed your son Jesus, to live as a man and live through an earthly life, experiencing the array of emotions, temptations, trials and tribulations that we all experience in life. We are additionally thankful for Jesus, as he made the ultimate sacrifice for us all. Christ the Prince of Peace, endured suffering, persecution and a painful death. His only crime was sharing the gospel and giving tangible examples of your miracles, your greatness, of how to live righteous lives and how to have devoted worship to you, Lord. Thank you for his teachings and his life of compassion; for all men to follow, for all to embrace and for all to have a defined path toward divinity. We pray in thanks for your absolute Mercy and Grace. We celebrate your Greatest Gift today, Heavenly Father on Christmas. We pray all these things in his name, Amen

Luke 2:8-15

8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about
